Oh, and I turned 30!

Yes, that's the other big news I guess. Two weeks ago was my thirtieth birthday. Andy really wanted organise a special time for me to celebrate, but I really didn't feel up for a masive party. So his brain-wave was to hire a cottage and go away for the weekend with a few close friends.
I had the best birthday ever! Andy found the most gorgeous thatched cottage surrounded by fields complete with a little stream and hump-back foot bridge!

We were there for three nights and had a wonderful time, playing games, walking along the beach... on the Saturday night all the men cooked for us girls (we put on our best clothes for the candle lit dinner party - I'll try and track down a photo to add) which was fantastic. But the best thing of all was having our very own private heated indoor swimming pool!!!

DIY-ing as the bump grows!

Firstly, appologies for being away from here so long. It's really nice to know you miss our little updates (as a number of you have been asking when the next one will be!)
So, what have we been up to? The answer is mainly DIY! And as I promised in my last post, here are some "before" and "during" pictures (you'll have to wait a little longer for the "after" as we're not finished quite yet).

The kitchen which used to be at the back of the house...

...is now our open plan dinning room with French doors to the garden.

The dinning room used to be at the front of the house, opening into the lounge...

...but is now our kitchen leading on from the new dinningroom.

We're so happy with the new shape of our house, and although we've been living in a near state of chaos for two months it's been well worth it. The plastering was finished off last week, the final big job, and now we are really able to appreciate the vast ammount of extra space we've gained. There's still plenty of painting and decorating to do over Christmas but putting our tree up on Sunday, in the newly decorated lounge made the place feel so homely.
