10 days over due

Just thought I'd give you an update on where things are. Well I'm still pregnant (!) now 10 days over due. I'm still feeling really well physically, not too uncomfortable or tired, and the baby's doing well too.

Emotionally however the waiting is beginning to take its toll. While I'm increasingly excited (and therefore frustrated to still be waiting) to meet our "little chicken", apprehension is beginning to set in. We had an appointment with our midwife yesterday evening which left us both feeling quite deflated. She examined me, as she had done in the middle of last week, and there was no sign of any progression towards "ripening" for labour (as she had hoped to find). She therefore talked us through the options for a medical induction of labour, which all along I've really hoped to avoid. There is obviously still time for things to progress naturally, and for me to have the waterbirth at Bournemouth that I've planned. But if they don't I'll be admitted to Poole hospital on either Thursday night or Monday morning - waiting to hear back from the consultant.

I'd really appreciate your prayers for peace of mind, and ideally labour to start naturally; as the thought of being induced is playing on my mind a lot at the moment and making me feel quite anxious.

Whatever happens we'll get to meet our "little chicken" by this time next week, which is incredibly exciting, and at the end of the day we'll do whatever is in the best interest of Mum and baby! Watch this space.

Still no sign

Well we've been trying all the tricks in the book to bring on my labour, but as yet to no avail... eating hot curries, fresh pineapple, drinking raspberry leaf tea, brisk walks, swimming, bathing in essential oils (jasmine and rose) massage and of course some "intimacy" too! I've even had a session of reflexology. Today my midwife visited me at home, she said everything was great, baby and Mum both fit and well - the chicken is in the best position for birth. She also performed a "sweep" to try and get things started. I'm still feeling great but getting more restless as time goes by.

Thought you'd like to see some pictures of our kitchen and dinning room now that they are all finished, we're really happy with the outcome, and if you've not been round already, you must come by for dinner soon!

Due today

Well, today is my due day but no sign of "the chicken" as yet. It's a really funny time, in the back of my mind I've been expecting to go into labour at any momnent for the past couple of weeks. But today is D-day and somehow I thought I'd be feeling different by now (like someone about to have a baby - whatever that feels like?!) but I really don't!

I do feel really lucky to have had such a straight forward pregnancy, with no major complaints the whole way through, even now I'm still feeling very comfortable. I'm just trying to enjoy these last days of pre-parenthood, getting lots of time to chill out, finish off little bits of DIY round the house, hang out with friends, etc. Andy and I have also had lots of time to spend together since I've been off work, as his shift work means he has week days off quite often, which has been wonderful.

Last week we both had really bad colds, so were willing the chicken not to come unitl we were feeling better (I had to see the doctor with a suspected chest infection, as my already restricted lung capacity, on top of a chesty cold, was giving me problems breathing, but he gave me the all clear) we're both over the worst of it now, and I'm feeling fit for labour again!!

Nursery

Well we're now most definitely in the home straight. My due date is in 10 days time and our baby really could be born any day now.
I've been on maternity leave for just over a week and am thoroughly enjoying the time to relax. Everything in the house is ready for the arrival of our "little chicken", my bag is packed, birth plan written and the nursery is all decorated.
